Susan's Central Florida Garden

CollageHenryFondaAndKnockOutRosesAndCamilliasCentralFlorida4Jan09.jpg

Susan's Central Florida garden has some flowers as shown on the photos taken January 4, 2009. L-R starting at the top: Henry Fonda rose, Knock Out rose purchased in Rabun County, and camillias. Not shown are about 10 upright blueberries, 10 thornless blackberries, and 10 Autumn Bliss raspberries being "raised" for consumption. A number of native Florida flowering plants for butterflies are also being raised. It has been the coldest winter since about 1986 so we shall see how the plants survive. So far, we have also been able to keep the deer and bear out of the garden though they do roam our yard! In the spring (March of 2009), we planted some Muscadine grapes and they have taken well to the Florida sand. - "An idealist is one who, on noticing that a rose smells better than a cabbage, concludes that it will also make better soup." - H. L. Mencken
